President Trump emphasized on Thursday that the U.S. was “not closing” when asked about the potential second wave of the novel coronavirus.

“People say that’s a very distinct possibility, it’s standard,” Trump said during a tour of a Ford factory in Michigan Thursday.

“We are going to put out the fires. We’re not going to close the country,” Trump shared. “We can put out the fires. Whether it is an ember or a flame, we are going to put it out. But we are not closing our country.”

The comments come in response to multiple claims that a second wave of the virus is inevitable. Dr. Anthony Fauci, Head of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, told the Washington Post that he has “no doubt” there will be another wave of coronavirus.
