Rep. Justin Amash (I-MI.) will not run as a Libertarian third-party candidate in the 2020 presidential race, weeks after announcing an exploratory committee towards the race to the White House.

In a tweet Wednesday afternoon, Amash said that after “much reflection I’ve concluded that circumstances don’t lend themselves to my success as a candidate for president this year, and therefore I will not be a candidate.”

Previously, Amash became the first member of the Republican Party to say that Trump committed impeachable offenses. Later, Amash announced he was leaving the Republican Party in a Washington Post op-ed after he had become “disenchanted with party politics.”
