The video starts with a black child running away from a white child, then reveals “what actually happened” with the two children hugging. At the end of the video it displays a “AMERICA IS NOT THE PROBLEM, FAKE NEWS IS,” message. “IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING,” it continues. “ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT FAKE NEWS DUMPSTER FIRES.”

CNN responded to the tweet saying that they covered the story “exactly as it happened.” “We’ll continue working with facts rather than tweeting fake videos that exploit innocent children,” they added.
The banner leads you to a page with the message, “Multiple journalists confirmed that the video, which was shared by President Trump, is edited and features a fake CNN chyron. The original CNN story, which is from 2019, reported on a friendship between two toddlers.”CNN did cover this story - exactly as it happened. Just as we reported your positions on race (and poll numbers). We’ll continue working with facts rather than tweeting fake videos that exploit innocent children. We invite you to do the same. Be better. https://t.co/T1nBtejZta— CNN Communications (@CNNPR) June 19, 2020
When asked about the banner, a Twitter spokesperson said, “This Tweet has been labeled per our synthetic and manipulated media policy to give people more context.”
This is the first time Twitter has slapped a “manipulated media” label on one of his tweets. However, in May Twitter fact-checked a pair of tweets over mail-in voting.
