"Per safety protocols, campaign staff are tested for COVID-19 before events. Six members of the advance team tested positive out of hundreds of tests performed, and quarantine procedures were immediately implemented," Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said in a statement to NBC News. "No COVID-positive staffers or anyone in immediate contact will be at today's rally or near attendees and elected officials. As previously announced, all rally attendees are given temperature checks before going through security, at which point they are given wristbands, facemasks and hand sanitizer."
The news comes as the president heads back to the campaign trail for the first time since the coronavirus furthered. The president is expected to hold a rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in an arena that holds 19,000 people. Oklahoma has had a large increase in the state this week and reported 136 new coronavirus cases.
The campaign will be providing precautions such as handing out face masks, and getting temperature checks, however there is no requirement to wear the masks.
