Today marks the first day without a White House Coronavirus Task Force briefing since Easter Sunday. President Trump noted his absence on Twitter, calling the briefings “not worth time and effort.”

On Friday, Trump had his briefing without questions from reporters. The briefing lasted 22 minutes - which is the shortest briefing the task force has had.

The move comes after Trump’s suggestion of looking into whether it was possible to inject disinfectants as a possible treatment for the coronavirus. He has then called the comments “sarcastic.”

In response to the critism, Trump wrote back on Twitter saying, “Was just informed that the Fake News from the Thursday White House Press Conference had me speaking & asking questions of Dr. Deborah Birx. Wrong, I was speaking to our Laboratory expert, not Deborah, about sunlight etc. & the CoronaVirus. The Lamestream Media is corrupt & sick!”

It’s unclear if Trump will continue to skip the briefings. However, Axios reported that he will take a step back and may stop appearing daily as advisors have urged him to step back from the briefings.
